A police officer saw a 31-year-old driver apparently asleep behind the wheel while stopped at a green light, Darien police said. The incident resulted in multiple charges. Police gave this account, including accusations not proven in court:
The car was stopped at the corner of Camp Ave. and Hoyt Street shortly before 3:38 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16.
Responding to a report of a driver asleep behind the wheel at 1:56 a.m., Saturday, May 27, Darien police say they found just that: The man was sleeping, the vehicle was running. Police gave this account of the incident, including accusations not proven in court:

One of the officers who approached the vehicle, stopped near 21 Tokeneke Road in downtown Darien, said a strong odor of alcohol could be smelled coming from the inside of the car and on the driver’s breath. The driver, Yolvi Moreno of Oaklawn Avenue in Stamdford, agreed to take field sobriety tests, which he didn’t perform to standard. He was charged with driving under the influence. At Darien Police Headquarters, he refused to take breathalyzer tests.
In the middle of the Post Road near its intersection with Sedgwick Avenue, Darien police found a 41-year-old woman asleep at the wheel of her vehicle, which was running — with her foot on the brake, police said. The incident resulted in the woman’s second driving while intoxicated offense, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website. Police gave this further account of the incident, which occurred on Sunday, March 19, including accusations not proven in court:
Officers, who were responding to a report of a stopped vehicle in the middle of the road, placed their vehicles at the front and rear of the woman’s vehicle and were able to unlock the driver’s side door and wake up the woman, Shelley Sifuentes of Cynthia Lane in Middletown. At Police Headquarters, Sifuentes refused to take a breathalyzer test. She was later released after paying 10% of a $500 bond.
At 3:28 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, a passer-by told police that he saw a vehicle stopped on the Post Road, facing the opposite direction of the northbound lane it was in, and with the driver asleep at the wheel. The vehicle’s engine was running, and the gear was in reverse. The passer-by reached in, put the gear in park, turned the car off and took the keys. Then he called police.
A 42-year-old woman who drove across the Post Road and into a retaining wall last December has been charged with driving under the influence and drug possession, Darien police said. Police provided this account, including accusations not proven in court:
On Dec. 13, Ali Bullock drove through the intersection of the Post Road and Ledge Roads and into the concrete wall that forms the abutment for the bridge carrying Interstate 95 there. Bullock appeared to be in an altered state of mind, according to officers at the scene, one of whom smelled a strong odor of marijuana, along with a strong chemical odor which the officer recognized as PCP (also known as phencyclidine). At least one of several small glassine bags found in the car were later tested, with positive results for pot and PCP.
