Presentation: Overview of the Medicare Program and Medicare Changes in 2026

CHOICES Medicare experts from the Southwestern CT Agency on Aging (SWCAA) will provide an overview of the Medicare program and any updates Medicare is introducing for 2026. The experts will also cover expected costs, how to choose a plan and more. This free presentation takes place at 12:45 p.m., Monday, Oct. 27, at the Darien Senior Center, 2 Renshaw Road, accessible from the lower parking lot in front of Town Hall. Causes and Ways to Relieve Back Pain: Presentation by a Pain Management Physician

Dr. Nicole Matar, pain management physician at the Hospital for Special Surgery in White Plains, New York, will discuss the causes of back pain and effective strategies to relieve and prevent it. Matar will speak at the Darien Senior Center starting at 12:45 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23. Learn posture tips, ergonomic adjustments, and targeted exercises to improve spinal health and overall well-being, especially for older adults. Attendance at the lecture is free.

Presentation on Vaccines, Their Role in Disease Prevention and Decreasing Chronic Diseases

Christine Burns from Waveny Lifecare Network will come to Darien Senior Center to discuss the role vaccines have in disease prevention as well as their role in decreasing chronic disease over your life span. Burns will speak starting at 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1. The event is free. Darien Senior Center is located in Mather Center, accessible from the lower parking lot in the front of Darien Town Hall.

Sedgwick Sisters Share Music from the ’40s to th ’70s Right After Lunch at the Darien Senior Center

The Sedgwick Sisters will provide musical entertainment starting at 12:30 p.m. (right after lunch), Tuesday, Sept. 23 at the Darien Senior Center. The group is a multi-generational family sharing timeless classics from the 1940s to the 1970s. With rich harmonies and heartfelt performances, they turn every show into a warm and joyful journey through music and memory. Also, Have Lunch at the Senior Center
Lunch will be served promptly at 12 noon for those who’d like to come.

Elderly Brothers Serve Up Classic Rock ‘n’ Roll Half an Hour After Senior Center Lunch Is Served

The Elderly Brothers will serve up classic ‘50s and ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll with fresh energy and spot-on harmonies that will start at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15 at the Darien Senior Center. Their lively shows mix crowd interaction, playful spirit and timeless tunes for a truly fun, feel-good experience. Also, Have Lunch at the Senior Center
For those who would like to come for lunch, it will be served promptly at 12 noon. It costs $5.

Mather Center to Close This Coming Week, From Monday to Friday, Aug 18 to 22

Mather Center, including the Darien Senior Center, will be closed from this Monday to Friday, Aug. 18 to the 22, to thoroughly clean and sanitize, preparing a safe and welcoming space for the year ahead, according to the Town of Darien Newsletter. “The Thank you for your understanding and patience,” the announcement said. “We can’t wait to welcome you back on Aug. 25!”
