Darien Police Patrol Car in Accident with Another Vehicle, Two Taken to Hospital

A Darien police officer was driving a patrol car on Noroton Avenue at its intersection with Ledge Road when his car collided with another vehicle. Both drivers were taken to Stamford Hospital, although no injuries were reported. Darien police gave this account of the accident:
On Friday Dec. 23, 2016 at approximately 2:14 a.m., a Darien Police Officer was involved in a two car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Noroton Avenue and Ledge Road. The officer was south bound on Noroton Avenue in a marked patrol unit, en route to a report of vandalism in the area.

Woman, 49, Struck by Vehicle in Parking Lot, But No Injuries Reported

A 49-year-old Darien woman was struck by a sport utility vehicle as she was walking toward Walgreens in the parking lot in front of the store at 148 Heights Road at about 6 p.m., Friday, she told police. The woman was knocked down to the pavement by the impact, but she received no injuries. As a precaution, she was later taken to Stamford Hospital by a Darien EMS-Post 53 ambulance. The middle-aged female driving the black SUV stopped, rolled down her window and asked if the victim was all right. The pedestrian said she was fine, and the driver left the scene.

DUI Charge for Darien Man, 21, After Crash Ejects One Passenger, Injures Another

A 21-year-old Pleasant Street man was arrested Friday on charges of intoxicated and reckless driving after an Aug. 20 crash in which two of his passengers were injured, including one ejected from the vehicle, police said. The driver, James Reilly of 21 Pleasant St., was taken to a hospital along with the two passengers, and Darien police began investigating the accident. As part of the investigation, police used a search warrant to get Reilly’s medical records, which showed that his blood-alcohol content was higher than the 0.08 legal limit. Police then applied for and eventually received an arrest warrant charging Reilly with DUI, reckless driving, making an improper turn and two counts of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle.

Darien Man, 21, Ejected from SUV, Severely Injured After Saturday Night Accident

A 21-year-old Darien man is in stable condition in the Stamford Hospital intensive care unit after a motor vehicle struck a stone wall and hit a tree in a 9:30 p.m. accident Saturday on Hanson Road near Linda Lane, Darien police said. The driver, also 21, and a passenger, 20, were treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released, police said. Police described the incident in this announcement, released Sunday afternoon:
On Aug. 20, 2016 at approximately 9:30pm, the Darien Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on Hanson Road west of Linda Lane. Upon arrival officers determined that a 21-year-old Darien man was operating a 1999 Chevy Blazer and traveling west on Hanson Road.
