Darien Little League Majors Championship: Noroton FD Wins Majors, Daigle & Travers Wins Minors

The Noroton Fire Department’s “Fireballs” team on Sunday, won the Darien majors Little League championship, defeating the Piedmont team 7 to 5 at McGuane field. For the minors division, Daigle & Travers team beat Gardener’s Center, 7 to 6.  

The Noroton department brought a fire engine to the field to cheer on the boys, who posed with their trophies on the truck. Some players were emotional on their last day of Little League in Darien. They head to Babe Ruth next year.

Daigle and Travers Wins Minors Division Championship
Coach Al Schenk’s Daigle & Travers prevailed by a narrow margin, 7 to 6, over Gardener’s Center in the Little League’s minors championship game.

Darien Little League to Hold Military Care Package Drive, May 21-22

The Darien Little League will hold the 8th annual military care package drive “Operation DLL Cares” at McGuane Park on both Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22. Please help support our troops all over the world by bringing care package items. Drop off times are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., both days. For a list of suggested care package items or to make a donation toward shipping costs please visit dybs.org. Despite the snow, spring is here and Major League Baseball is finally underway! Darien Little League’s opening weekend festivities are right around the corner. Saturday April 23: First Annual Darien Little League Jamboree for enrolled kindergarten and first graders. More info to follow from your coaches. Sunday April 24: Join our special guest, Bobby Valentine, as he and other guest speakers kick off our 2016 season!
