A 26-year-old man was charged with driving while under the influence after he struck a stone wall and a parked Lexus on Pratt Island, Darien police said. Darien police gave this account, including accusations not proven in court:
Police arrived at the scene at about 9:48 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5. Ramiro Narvaez had been driving a BMW X3. Police did not say he was injured in the accident.
A 33-year-old Greenwich woman was intoxicated when the car she was driving collided with a telephone pole at the Noroton Heights Railroad Station at about 1:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, Darien police said. Police did not report any injuries. Police said they found an open bottle of tequila, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the car. The driver, Alexis V. Jordan, had been arrested in Darien nine years ago, when she participated in a burglary that police termed a home invasion, according to a January 2014 police post on Facebook.
Police said a 32-year-old intoxicated Bridgeport man mistook a driveway on Midbrook Lane for the roadway on Friday, July 5; then he drove onto the front yard. Police gave this account, including accusations not proven in court:
The man was driving on Midbrook Lane, near Leroy Avenue, when the accident happened. The homeowner called police, who did not give the time of the incident. When officers arrived, they saw that the driver was unsteady on his feet and he smelled of alcohol. He failed to perform sobriety tests adequately and was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right side of the road.

Revelry mixed with high traffic volume over the holiday period can bring an increased crash risk, especially crashes involving drivers impaired by alcohol. AAA projects a record 60.6 million people will travel by car over Independence Day week – an additional 2.8 million travelers compared to last year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 487 people died in traffic crashes during the 2022 Fourth of July holiday period, and 40% of those fatalities occurred in drunk driving crashes.
A 52-year-old Darien man locked his mother out of her home on Patton Drive, then unlocked it and drove off in her SUV while intoxicated, according to police, who charged him with driving under the influence. At about 7:25 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, the woman called police, saying she was concerned about his possible intoxication while driving her 2024 Lexus. A second caller reported seeing the SUV being driven erratically.
After Darien police were told on Wednesday afternoon, June 19, that a 74-year-old man at the Tokeneke Beach Club was acting unruly and possibly intoxicated, officers went to the club and arrested him on a charge of driving while under the influence. Police gave this additional information about the incident and arrest:
Police were called at about 2:40 p.m. The man showed signs that he was intoxicated, and he had a small cut on his arm. The police announcement did not say where the man was driving while intoxicated. Police had him take a series of standard field sobriety tests, which he failed to perform adequately. He was arrested.
A 39-year-old woman was driving east on West Norwalk Road “at what appeared to be a high rate of speed,” when an officer stopped her vehicle and smelled alcohol on her breath, a police news release said. Police gave this account of the matter, including accusations not proven in court:
The vehicle was stopped at 2:58 a.m., Wednesday, May 22. The woman, a Stratford resident, wasn’t able to perform standard field sobriety tests at the scene, so she was charged with driving while intoxicated. She was also charged with driving unreasonably fast. At Police Headquarters, a blood-alcohol test showed her at twice the legal limit of 0.08.
A 42-year-old Darien woman was “stumbling” into her vehicle and had trouble opening the front door in a parking lot on Heights Road, Darien police say they were told late Saturday night. Police responded to the report of a possibly intoxicated driver, and when she drove to Hecker Avenue, police stopped her car. She was charged with driving while under the influence. Police responded to the report at 11:22 p.m., Saturday, April 13. When she was stopped, the woman couldn’t perform standard field sobriety tests to a minimum standard.
A 32-year-old Bronx man, stopped by a police officer at 5:29 a.m. after crossing over the double yellow line on the Post Road, fell asleep by the time the officer returned to the man’s vehicle, police said. Police soon found out that the man was wanted by law enforcement authorities in Rhode Island on a warrant requesting his extradition. Police didn’t specify the charge or charges from that state (and in similar cases they frequently say they don’t know them).
