Ruth Halford of Darien passed away peacefully Oct. 22 at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation in Canaan.

ObitShe was born in Delson, Quebec, daughter of the late Reverend Winter and Edith LeCras.

She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, C. Norman Halford, and is survived by two children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Marion (Lea) Read and Hazel (Gordon) Baines.

She was an accomplished piano player, joining a Canadian Forces troop show as a young woman in 1945, and she continued to enjoy music throughout her life. She and Norman loved to travel and spent time living in several cities in Canada before settling in Darien in 1978.

A five-year posting in Brunei in the late ’80s offered a unique and exciting highlight to their travel lives. Most important was her enjoyment at being in the company of her loving family and good friends.

A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Darien at 11 a.m., Nov. 10, 2018.
