A 30-year-old Catalpa Terrace resident chased another man down that street at about 11:30 p.m. last Thursday, screaming that he was going to kill the victim, Darien police said.
Police added this to their account, which includes accusations not proven in court:
The man chasing the victim was “heavily intoxicated,” and had begun acting erratically in the man’s home, the victim told police. He chased the victim when the victim left the home. Police described the situation as a domestic violence incident.
When police arrived at 11:37 p.m., the man was sitting in the foyer of the home. Police issued him a misdemeanor summons, charging him with threatening and disorderly conduct. He was told to appear the next day, Friday, Feb. 23, in state Superior Court in Stamford. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Feb. 29.
According to the state Judicial Branch website, the same man charged in this incident was charged in another one last August.
In that case, Darien police charged him with disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment, both misdemeanors, committed on July 26, 2023. He was later released after posting a $35,000 bond in that court case. According to the website, which gave no explanation for it, an order for his rearrest was issued at some point.
