Arrest photo of Liam Flaherty, 28, charged with criminal trespassing, burglary, interfering with an officer and refusing to be fingerprinted on Aug. 22.
Flaherty, 28, was sitting on a bench in the back of the house on Robin Hood Lane. He admitted that he’d entered the home and the burglar alarm was immediately activated. After a previous incident, police had advised Flaherty not to return to the residence.
A resident of the home told police that the alarm had gone off and Flaherty’s voice could be heard outside the person’s bedroom door.
Police charged Flaherty, a resident of New London, with first-degree criminal trespassing, second-degree burglary, second-degree threatening, interfering with an officer and refusing to be fingerprinted. Police did not give any details about how Flaherty came to be charged with the crimes other than burglary and trespassing.
Flaherty was held on a $5,000 bond pending an appearance that same day in state Superior Court in Stamford. His bond has been increased to $35,000 and he remains in custody, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website. His next court date is on Oct. 19.
