The State Department of Transportation has posted “No Parking” signs in front of Darien Library on the Post Road near Hecker Avenue, fulfilling a request from the Darien Police Commission.

Police have said they were waiting for signs to be posted before enforcing the parking ban in front of the library. They may still be lenient with those who park, now that the signs are up (they say they’d prefer not to ticket cars) — but you probably shouldn’t push it.

Cars parked in front of the library have made it difficult for traffic passing by on the Post Road, occasionally causing accidents and quite a few near misses, police have said.

Darien Library’s parking lot in the back sometimes fills up for particular events. The library has said that parking is available in a lot on nearby Thorndal Circle, which has a footpath to the back of the Darien Library lot (near the back of Police Headquarters).
