New Canaan Turkey Trot — Run in Waveny Park on Sunday

You can run in the New Canaan Turkey Trot, which starts at 11:30 a.m. (but get there sooner, as early as 10:30) Sunday, Nov. 25 at the “Castle” at Waveny Park, just north of Darien.

The cost is $30 if you register before 12 midnight, Saturday to Sunday. On the day of the event, the cost goes up to $40, and there won’t be registration other than online. There’s a $2.50 charge for online registration.

You can get your pre-race check-in at New Balance New Canaan, 128 Main St., New Canaan beginning Friday, Nov. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, November 24 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Other Walking/Running Events This Weekend

• Rowayton Turkey Trot: Fun Running on Thanksgiving Morning (Thanksgiving morning)
• Thanksgiving Weekend Waddle at the New Canaan Nature Center (10 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday)
• Walk with Darien Land Trust Members at Selleck’s Woods/Dunlap Nature Preserve (11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday — it’s unclear whether or not this is a kind of drop-in situation or there’s an organized walk)

DESCRIPTION

The 5 km course starting and finishing at the Waveny Park “castle.” ChronoTrack B-Tag timing. Post-race refreshments, awards to top 3 male and female runners and age group winners, and raffle prizes.

Race day registration opens at 10:30 a.m. Pre-race check-in at New Balance New Canaan beginning Friday, Nov. 23 from 4 to 6 pm, and Saturday, November 24 from 10 am to 2 pm.

All proceeds benefit the Open Door shelter.

NEW REGISTRATION PROCESS THIS YEAR!

This year, there will be NO ON SITE RACE DAY REGISTRATION. Runners who wait until the last minute to register must do so before they arrive at Waveny, either on a computer at home or in a phone at the park. Once you have done that, you may proceed to the pre-registered check-in line. With an 11:30 a.m. start, you have plenty of time to register online ahead of time.

Although the mobile app makes checking in quick and simple, we strongly advise you to take advantage of our early check in at New Balance New Canaan Friday and Saturday, especially if you have ordered a shirt or hat.

This process was used at the Darien Road Race in September and made race day much smoother. We hope you’ll agree once you’ve used it here.
