Meridith Ackerman Beaman, 89, passed away Feb. 16. Her funeral will be on Sunday, March 3.

Meridith Ackerman Beaman, 89, of North Hampton, New Hampshire passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, Feb. 16, at her home.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1929 in Boston to the late Dean W. and Gladys M. (True) Ackerman.

Meridith was raised in Moorestown, New Jersey and Darien. She married George B. Beaman III in 1951. After living in New York City and Maryland for a short time, the young couple moved to Wilton in 1958, relocated to Hampton, New Hampshire in 1968, and finally to North Hampton in 1975.

Very active in her community, Meridith served as assistant town clerk and treasurer for the North Hampton Bandstand. She was faithful to her church, North Hampton United Church of Christ, serving as moderator, treasurer and active member of Council and other church committees.

She is best remembered by many for her glorious, classically trained soprano voice. She sang in the church choir for over 40 years and performed many solos.

She also loved boats, gardens and animals. She particular enjoyed sailing with George to their favorite destinations, Bar Harbor and the Isles of Shoals. She was a caregiver in every sense of the word, devoting her full attention to caring for others over many years.

Meridith was the devoted wife of the late George B. Beaman, III who predeceased her in 2012. She leaves her son, Peter Beaman, and his wife Lila McCain of Newton, Massachusetts; her grandchildren: Christopher, Peter and William; and her sisters-in-law: Robin Beaman of North Hollywood, California and Constance Dugan of Lexington, Massachusetts.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the United Church of Christ, 295 Atlantic Ave., North Hampton, NH 03862. Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, North Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meridith’s church at the above address.
