A 46-year-old Norwalk man struck a vehicle stopped at an intersection in Darien, then asked the driver if she was all right, but he drove off before police arrived, Darien police said.
But the driver of the other car took a picture of his license plate, which allowed police to identify the man, a resident of Juniper Road in Norwalk, police said.
Police gave this further information, including accusations not proven in court:
The accident occurred at the intersection of Noroton Avenue and Ledge Road sometime on Monday, Nov. 13. In their news release, police did not say whether there was any damage or even visible scratches on either vehicle.
Police applied for and, on Nov. 29, were granted an arrest warrant for the man, who was charged with evading responsibility and following too close.
The man turned himself in at Darien Police Headquarters the next day. He was released on a court-set bond of $5,000 and is scheduled to appear Dec. 11 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
