Lynn Reilly obituary 8-2-16

Lynn Reilly, 85, passed away on Saturday.

Born in Philadelphia as the second of the three children of Willard and Hulda (Frazier) Wanger, Lynn was raised in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., and Ocean City, N.J.

She graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1949 and subsequently from Temple School of Dentistry in Philadelphia with certification as a dental hygienist. She met Charles E. Reilly Jr. of Bala as a young girl summering in Ocean City, started dating him at age 16, and married him at age 21, following him to Germany on his tour of active duty.

Lynn’s interest in family history was triggered by her descent from John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of the Mayflower, and she followed in the footsteps of her mother, Hulda Yaeger Frazier, and great-grandmother, Anna Maria Redfield, and became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She remained a member of the Jeptha Abbot Chapter in Ardmore even after her relocation to Connecticut, where she worked with the Darien Public Schools and was a volunteer for Children’s Aid Society. She was also a member of the John Alden Society.

After their return from Germany, the Reilly’s lived in Bala Cynwyd and Devon, Pa., before they moved to Darien. Lynn moved to Wayne, Pa., and then to Shannondell at Valley Forge in 2010. She was an avid reader and often wrote book synopses for the Tredyffrin Library, played golf at Glenhardie Country Club, and loved tennis and paddle tennis.

Lynn is survived by her four children, Deborah Lynn (John) Marshall of Watertown; Susan McArdle of New Orleans, Louisiana; Kathryn (Allen) Williamson of New York City and Sea Island, Ga.; and Charles E. (Linda) Reilly III of Dresher, Pa.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Elizabeth Marshall, Alexander Marshall, Christopher (Carly) McArdle, Caitlyn McArdle, Scott McArdle, Tucker (Alexandra) Williamson, Kathryn Hunter Williamson (Parker) Stitzer, Brooke Williamson (Noah) Wimmer, Bryce Williamson, Charles E. Reilly IV, Timothy Reilly, and Matthew Reilly; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Vera Wanger Turner; and brother, Willard Hunter (Judy) Wanger Jr.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Caroline Frazier Bullock, her brother-in-law, William E. Turner Jr., and her son-in-law, Louis Fox McArdle.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
