Joseph A. DiChiaro of Darien died on Dec. 6, 2017 at Cassena Care at Stamford at the age of 94.

He was born on Sept. 12, 1923 and was the son of the late Michele and Constance Calitri DiChiaro. He was a lifelong resident of Darien.
Joe graduated from Darien High School in 1942 and served in World War II, from January, 1943 to Dec. 24, 1945, as a corporal technician, Battery B112 anti-aircraft artillery, in the European Theater, including in the Italian and North African campaigns.
After 43 years of service, he retired in 1986 from Pitney Bowes.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara DiChiaro; two daughters: Jill DiChiaro of Pennsylvania and Sharon DiChiaro of Darien; a son, Michael DiChiaro (Annette) of Rowayton; and his two grandchildren, Claire and Joe DiChiaro. He was predeceased by two sisters, Anne Roberts and Mary DiChiaro.
