Jeanne C. Turkel of Darien passed away on May 21, 2021 at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia, from complications arising from a serious automobile accident on April 30, 2021. She was 78.

Jeanne was born on Jan. 26, 1943 in Plainfield, New Jersey, daughter of the late Cecil H. Crickenberger and Helen S. Crickenberger. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1963 and went on to get an M.A. degree from Columbia University and later a degree in music from Manhattanville College.
Jeanne’s passions included pilates, ball therapy, tai-chi and long walks with her beloved dog, Skye. She enjoyed a career as a pilates instructor and piano teacher.
For the last 54 years, Jeanne was married to William C, Turkel. She is survived by her husband; their son, William H. Turkel, his wife, Martha, and their children, Natalia and David of Miami; and their son, Jonathan M. Turkel, his wife, Turi, and their son, Chapin of Clarke County, Virginia.
Cremation was performed in Berryville, Virginia. A memorial service will be held in Darien at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or other tokens of remembrance, the family would appreciate a donation be made to a charity of the donor’s choice or to Americares.
