Devers, Edward Norman Devers, 93, of Sarasota, Fl. passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26.

Born on March 2, 1923 in Queens, N.Y., he had been a local resident of Sarasota for 28 years after moving here from Darien.

Mr. Devers served in the U.S. Navy in WWII with pride and honor and separated from the Naval Reserve as a master chief.

He had been a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church and was with a volunteer fire department in Darien. He was the manager at a Darien yacht club for 20 years.

After moving to Florida he was a member of VFW Post 8203 and VFW Post 12055. Mr. Devers, a loving father and grandfather, enjoyed fishing, model airplanes and woodworking.

Survivors include his son, Wayne Devers of Greenwich; daughter, Karen Perkowski; son in law Richard Perkowski of Lakewood Ranch, Fl.; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A committal ceremony with military honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery at 10 a.m., March 9. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
