Dorothy “Dot” Ann Pospischil, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 at Mercy Medical Center.

Dorothy Pospischil, 70, died Jan. 14. Her wake will be on Friday and her funeral will take place Saturday.
Dot was born on Dec. 30, 1951 in Buffalo, New York, to Raymond and Barbara Birchenough Hotaling, and she graduated in 1970 from Darien High School. She then graduated in 1974 from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a degree in education. On July 5, 1975, she married Paul Pospischil in Freeport, Illinois. She was a teacher at Prairie High School from 1974 until her retirement in 2007.
Dot was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a member of the College Community School Board for 11 years after her retirement, past-president of the library board in Fairfax, and a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for three years following retirement. She also started the Medical Advocacy & Resident Council at Grand Living Senior Community.
Dot enjoyed needlepoint and beading, reading and helping others. She loved family times and will be missed by those who knew her.
Dot is survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul; her daughter, Jennifer (Ethan) Elliott of Denver, and their children, Athena and Elaina; her son, Nicholas (Amanda) Pospischil of Cheyenne, Wyoming and their children, Kaelyn and Jackson; her sister, Susan (Peter) Ogle of Westerly, Rhode Island and niece, Hope (Rob) Turenne; and her brother, William (Andrea) Hotaling and nephew, Jay Hotaling. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home, with Deacon Stan Scheiding presiding. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Due to concerns over the novel coronavirus, family members and friends are required to wear a mask to any funeral event.
