Frances E. Williams (Bower), 84, of Darien died at home on March 28, surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer.
Fran was born in Trumansburg, N.Y. on May 13, 1932 to Frank and Helen Bower. She graduated from Trumansburg High School, attended Oberlin College in Ohio and later lived in Venezuela for some time.
She married Thomas M. Williams on Dec. 24, 1967 and had one daughter, Karen. The couple moved to Darien in 1973, where Fran owned and operated Executive Secretarial Services for many years. Fran was a true “people person” and loved getting to know everyone she met.

Fran is survived by her husband of 49 years, Tom Williams of Darien; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Greg Bottenhorn of Littleton, Mass.; four grandchildren: Collin Maloney of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Courtney, Hope, and Noah Bottenhorn of Littleton, two sisters: Eleanor Heingartner of Delaware, Ohio and Trudy Spence of Exeter, N.H., as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen, as well as brothers Robert and Edward Bower.
A celebration of life is planned for this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 38 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT 06854.
