Darien EMS-Post 53 is asking for the public’s help in getting enough supplies to protect Posties from COVID-19 and do their work in the community.
Supplies can be delivered to the Post 53 headquarters, bought with donations you can make online or buy on the Post 53 Amazon.com wish list.
Here’s the announcement:
To the Darien Community regarding the COVID-19 pandemic:
There is a national shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We are continuously working with local, state and federal officials to obtain additional PPE.
We are now turning to our community for help. We need supplies to keep our emergency responders safe and healthy so that they can continue to respond to those in our community who may become ill or have emergencies unrelated to Covid-19.
Donations of monetary value and/or supplies such as N95 masks, surgical masks, medical face shields or goggles, isolation gowns, rubber gloves, Clorox wipes, paper towels, Purell hand sanitizer or equivalent are all greatly appreciated.
1. Please leave them in their original packaging (if possible) and place them in a bag
2. Please place the bag in the plastic bin outside Post headquarters at 0 Ledge Road.
We have also made a wishlist on Amazon for anyone who is looking for a way to help but is not sure how. It can be shipped directly to Post 53 at 0 Ledge Road, Darien. Thank you!
[Editor’s note: Darienite.com checked, and the “0 Ledge Road” address wasn’t accepted by Amazon. We instead gave the address as “1 Ledge Road” on one line and on the second address line (which seems to appear above the first once the website accepts it) we wrote “Actually 0 Ledge Road” and wrote a description of where the building is in the space Amazon provides.]
