Unlocked in Darien: The Never Ending Story: You can see this statement on the back of Darien Police patrol cars: “LOCK YOUR CAR. EVERY TIME. EVERYWHERE.”

The incident occurred Tuesday, Aug. 23. The woman, a 41-year-old resident of Walmsley Road, parked her car in the lot at 412 Hoyt St. at about 11:45 a.m. and returned to it at about 2 p.m. When she did, she noticed something odd.

Car keys were on the seat — but they were keys that didn’t belong to her. She put them on the curb and drove away. Her purse was on one of the passenger seats in the car, a 2013 Volvo sedan.

Not until later did she notice that some credit cards that had been in a wallet in the purse were missing. Nothing else was taken from the purse.

When she called police, she told them that she hadn’t found any unusual activity from the credit cards. She didn’t have the card numbers handy to give police when she called.
