Barbara Minahan, 84, Mother of Three, Former Darienite Who Loved Palm Beach History

Barbara Chase Fenton Minahan died peacefully in Hospice of Palm Beach County in Florida on Sunday, Feb. 14.

ObitBarbara was born on Oct. 27, 1931 in Buffalo, N.Y. to Charlotte Sawyer Chase and George Stevenson Fenton.

Barbara graduated from the Graham-Eckes School in Palm Beach and Smith College in Northampton, Mass. After her education years Barbara wed the late L. Jarvis Cushing, Jr. and raised three children in Darien. Barbara moved to her childhood home in Palm Beach County in 1981 with her late husband Michael J. Minahan of Surrey, England.

She worked at Walmart in customer service for 26 years and was very involved with Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach. Her loves were her lifelong friends, her family and her faith. She was a historian of the local area and very much appreciated the old guard and traditions of a time gone by.

She will be missed dearly by her children, Christopher Brokaw Cushing (Kathleen), Charlotte Thayer Cushing and Harry Chase Cushing; grandchildren, Chelsea Cushing (Ernesto), Chase Cushing and Corey Cushing.

The family will receive friends at the Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach on April 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
