A 33-year-old Patton Drive man was charged Sunday with disorderly conduct after his girlfriend told police he struck her on the side of her face.
Police gave this account (accusations not proven in court):
The woman, also 33, said the two had argued that evening by text messages, and when they were home together the argument turned physical.
After police were called to the home at 9 p.m., the man told an officer that he hadn’t struck her, he only put his hands on her upper chest to push her away. One of his hands may have slipped and struck her face, he said, inadvertently slapping her. He said he only pushed her because she was arguing so close to him.
There were no marks on the woman’s face, police said, and she declined medical attention.
The man was given a misdemeanor summons on a charge of disorderly conduct for an appearance Monday, Aug. 31, in state Superior Court in Stamford.
