A man appeared to have a hurt lip and a woman had redness on her ear after police were called to a Glenwood Drive home on a report of domestic violence early Friday evening, police said.

Police gave this account (accusations not proven in court):

The woman, 33, said her 48-year-old boyfriend hit her on the side of her head. The boyfriend said he pushed her head out of his face during an argument. He denied striking her.

He said he may have been in contact with her ear with his elbow when he was trying to deflect her punches.

The man and woman were each charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. The woman was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Monday, and the man was initially held on $250 bond for the same court date.
