Donations to Americares ongoing health programs on #GivingTuesday, Dec. 3 will be matched eight times over until 11:59 p.m., the organization announced.

The matching grant will be available that day for gifts of up to $10,000, the organization said in an announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 26. That means a gift of $20 would result in another $160 given to the organization. To donate, visit americares.org/GT2019.

More Than Money on #GivingTuesday

As part of the international nonprofit organization’s #GivingTuesday campaign, volunteers will assemble hygiene kits at Americares headquarters and global distribution center in Glenbrook on Tuesday.

Last year, more than 100 volunteers packed hygiene kits for disaster survivors at Americares’ distribution center in in Glenbrook in celebration of #GivingTuesday.

Employees of Henkel, FedEx and community volunteers will work in shifts to pack 3,500 hygiene kits for distribution to disaster survivors worldwide. The kits contain essential hygiene items, including soap, shampoo and toothpaste, and are distributed to families displaced by tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, wildfires and other emergencies.

“Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable giving season and is a great opportunity to invite supporters to roll up their sleeves and help us prepare for the next emergency,” said Americares Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer Christine Squires. “Thanks to our dedicated corporate partners and volunteers, families around the world will have access to essential relief items in times of crisis.”
