Donations to Americares ongoing health programs on #GivingTuesday, Dec. 3 will be matched eight times over until 11:59 p.m., the organization announced. — an announcement from Americares

The matching grant will be available that day for gifts of up to $10,000, the organization said in an announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 26. That means a gift of $20 would result in another $160 given to the organization.

Darien, New Canaan to Compete in ‘Most Generous Town’ Giving Tuesday Award

For the second year in a row, Darien and New Canaan will face-off to see which town can capture the title of “Most Generous Town” by raising the most funds for either The Community Fund of Darien or the New Canaan Community Foundation. — an announcement from the Community Fund of Darien (captions from Darienite.com)

Last year, Darien won by a slim margin, and both organizations collectively raised nearly $70,000 to support local non-profits. This year, the competition window extends from the Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving Day until midnight on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 27. Donors can contribute to The Community Fund of Darien by texting 06820 to 44321 during this time period or by visiting www.communityfunddarien.org any time of year.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year philanthropic giving. This year The Community Fund of Darien and the New Canaan Community Foundation used the friendly rivalry that already exists between the two towns as an incentive for residents to give generously in the first annual “Most Generous Town” contest.
