William “Bill” Wensley, 65, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 after a courageous fight with cancer.

William Wensley, 65, passed away on Jan. 16. His funeral is on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Born in Greenwich on May 22, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert P. Wensley and Muriel “June” Wensley. Raised in Darien and later in Longmeadow, Mass., Bill was a graduate of Longmeadow High School and received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Massachusetts.

He was an insurance and investment representative for New England Financial/MetLife for many years.

Bill was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church in Bennington, Vt., where he served as a church elder. Bill had a heart for the lost and hurting, and he opened his home to many, some were children in the foster care system, and others who were going through hard times and needed help.

His love for God, others and family was evidenced by all who knew him. Bill was an avid skier and an ambassador at Mt. Snow. He loved sailing, hiking, water-skiing, camping and was a master woodworker.

Bill was predeceased by his father, Robert P. Wensley, of Westfield, Mass.; as well as his much-loved Uncle William C. Miller, of Greenwich.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Cari of 43 years; his son William C. Wensley and his wife, Lindsey of Bennington, Vt.; his daughter, Laura and her husband, Timothy J. King of Bolton, Mass.; his daughter, Diana Ayanna and her husband, Sidhu, of Paris; his mother, Muriel June Wensley of East Longmeadow, Mass.; his sisters, Linda Rigos of Pompano Beach, Fl., and Susan and her husband, Mark Kendrick of Hampden, Mass.; his half- brother, Robert Jeffries Wensley; his half-sister, Elizabeth and her husband, Jason Hunt, of Fredonia, N.Y.; seven granddaughters: Lily, Holly, Daisy, Ivy and Rosie King, of Bolton, Mass. and Elise and Sierra Wensley, of Bennington, Vt.

He also leaves his Aunt Janet Kimberling of Santa Fe, N.M.; his aunt, Dulce Miller of Greenwich; his niece, Thalia and her husband Michael Robbins of Hartford; his nephews: Joshua Kendrick, and his wife Leah, and Timothy Kendrick and his wife Nina, of Agawam, Mass.; cousin, Stewart Miller and his wife, Grace, of Spokane Valley, Wash.; his sister-in-law, Shirley A. Overstreet of Shaftsbury, Vt.; his brother-in-law, Gerald E. Overstreet and his wife, Christine, of Longmeadow, Mass.; and a good number of great nieces and nephews.

There will be a Memorial Service celebrating his life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Missionary Alliance Church, 198 Crescent Blvd., Bennington, Vt. All are invited to attend both the service and luncheon following at the church.
