Most places are open on Columbus Day, with government offices and most banks the major exception.

The New York City Columbus Day Parade runs from 12 noon to 3 p.m. along Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 72nd Street. Some streets will be closed and some transportation disruptions will result, see details here.

Before Monday

On FRIDAY, Oct. 11: Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles major customer service offices will CLOSE for the Columbus Day holiday on Friday, Oct. 11, at 12:30 p.m. and reopen Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7:45 a.m.

On SATURDAY, Oct. 11: The town dump (also known as the Transfer Station and the Recycling Center) will be OPEN for normal hours.
