Two men from Darien, both alumni of Trinity College in Hartford, are among 11 people recently appointed to the college’s Board of Trustees.
College President Joanne Berger-Sweeney announced the appointments, including James W. Cuminale, Class of 1975 (whose daughter, Jennifer, is in the Class of 2009), and Michael C. Huebsch, Class of 1980.
The small liberal arts college gave this information on the backgrounds of the new board members:
James Cuminale
Cuminale graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Trinity College in 1975 with a B.A. in history and received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1978.
He is general counsel at PJT Partners, a financial services and mergers and acquisitions advisory firm in Manhattan. Prior to that, he served as chief legal officer of The Nielsen Company, the world’s leading market research firm.
James Cuminale
Before joining Nielsen, he was executive vice president and general counsel of PanAmSat, the world’s leading carrier of TV channels. Prior to that, he was a partner at Ivey, Barnum & O’Mara in Greenwich.
Previously a member of Trinity’s Board of Fellows, Cuminale was one of the first supporters of the Summit Scholarship initiative, which provides current-use, merit-based aid to some of Trinity’s highest achieving students.
He established an endowed scholarship, the Cuminale Family Scholarship Fund, to further support students at Trinity, and he was the featured speaker at the college’s annual Scholars Reception.
Cuminale and his wife, Cynthia A. Cuminale, are residents of Darien. Their daughter, Jennifer Cuminale ’09, is a Trinity College alumna.
Michael Huebsch
Michael C. Huebsch is a managing director at BlackRock, the global asset manager headquartered in New York City, which he joined in 1989. He is chairman of BlackRock’s Financial Institutions Group and a member of the firm’s Global Operating Committee.
Michael Huebsch
He graduated from Trinity College with a B.A. in political science in 1980. He earned an M.B.A. in finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1985.
Huebsch served on Trinity’s Board of Fellows (2010-2013) and is a member of the Board of Overseers of the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science at St. John’s University in New York City.
He and his wife, Suzanne d’Harcourt Hooper, reside in Darien. Their son, Hunter, is a recent college graduate, and their daughter, Elizabeth, is a rising college senior.
