Darien residents Nancy Gramps and Joanna Bridges win awards in the Marine & Coastal Exhibition at the Rowayton Arts Center

Winners of the Marine & Coastal Exhibit were announced at the Rowayton Arts Center’s opening reception Sunday, including two from Darien.

Nancy Gramps of Darien won first place in the mixed-media category, and Joanna Bridges won second place in the photography category.

Darien residents Nancy Gramps and Joanna Bridges win awards in the Marine & Coastal Exhibition at the Rowayton Arts Center

 

Susan Fehlinger of Bridgeport won Best in Show for her oil painting, Beach Cottage. Award winning artist and instructor Will McCarthy selected the winners from almost 80 entries. Exhibit chairs were Sandy Mills of Norwalk and Elaine Pagano of the Rowayton section of Norwalk.

Acrylic- 1st Place- Kim Romero (Southport) On the Pier

2nd Place- Virginia Jennewein (New Canaan) Rocks- Sherwood Island Park

3rd Place- Leslie Ware (Norwalk) Old Salts, Nova Scotia

Honorable Mention- Heidi Lewis Coleman (Stamford) Seaspray 1 & 2

Mixed Media

1st Place- Nancy Gramps (Darien) Turks – Two Birds of a Feather

2nd Place- Ginger Jespersen (Weston) Thousand Islands

Oil- 1st Place- Kris Toohey (Westport) Summer View

2nd Place- Susan Leggitt (Norwalk) Stolen Heart

3rd Place- Alan Sprules (Rowayton) Boat Yard

Since the 1960s, the Rowayton Arts Center has been a cultural gem in the community. Regional artists exhibit and sell their work in the gallery. The Art School offers classes to children and adults at all levels. The RAC Gallery and Art School are located on Five Mile River in Rowayton, CT at 145 Rowayton Avenue. www.rowaytonarts.org
