Museum of Darien is presenting a new exhibit, “In A New Light – The Heart of Our Collection.” The exhibition of 30 paintings includes landscapes, portraits and florals by 12 turn-of-the-century artists who lived and worked in Darien.

Most received formal training either abroad in Italy or Paris or at the Boston School of Fine Arts, Chicago Art Institute or with notable American impressionists.

A few became nationally acclaimed while participating in Darien’s Guild of the Seven Arts and teaching locally.

Established in 1953 as the Darien Historical Society, the Museum of Darien has crafted objects, narratives and works of art that have shaped the community of Darien.

The exhibit is open through May 26, with visiting hours on Tuesdays through Thursdays, from 11am-4pm. Admission to the exhibit and museum is $5. The Museum of Darien is located at 45 Old King’s Hwy. North.
