Three unlocked vehicles were entered overnight in Darien, two of them at 6 Rainbow Cir. from Thursday to Friday, Aug. 3 to 4, when an iPad valued at about $500 was taken.

In a third case, an unlocked vehicle was entered on Leroy Ave. at 1:19 a.m. on Friday, July 28.

Darien police gave these accounts of the incidents:

Rainbow Circle, Aug. 3 to 4

A white 2013 BMW X5 parked outside 6 Rainbow Circle was entered sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 7:10 a.m., an Apple iPad near the front console was taken from the unlocked car. A white 2015 Ford F150 pickup truck was also entered, but nothing was taken.

Police have no suspects, but an investigation is continuing.

95 Leroy Ave, July 28

The owner of a tan 2010 Toyota Prius was in the area visiting relatives and had parked the car in the driveway of the home for about two weeks. On Friday, Aug. 4, she discovered that the glove box had been opened and its contents were on the floor of the car. Nothing was taken, and there were no signs of damage.

A surveillance video from a camera system in the area showed a vehicle stopped on Shadbush Lane, very close by (according to Google Maps, it’s 98 feet away from 95 Leroy Avenue).

The video shows that a male entered the Prius at 1:19 a.m. on Friday, July 28. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Editor’s note: It is Darienite.com policy to report on the exact address of entries and thefts from motor vehicles. Neighbors ought to know who in the neighborhood is acting in ways that have attracted burglars. The way to stop attracting these kinds of burglars is obvious and easy.
