On Thursday, July 27, 2017, Charles Edward Bradley III passed away peacefully at his home in Darien.

Charles Edward Bradley, Sr. (“Charlie” to those who knew him) was born on Aug. 25, 1929 in Lawrence, Mass. to Edmee Cloutier Bradley and Charles Edward Bradley II.

He attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. and Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut where he graduated in 1951.

After completing Officer Candidate School, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an air intelligence officer on the U.S.S. Midway, with an incredible 156 carrier landings. He was honorably discharged in 1954 at the rank of lieutenant JG.

In 1954, Charlie joined the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse. While working for Price Waterhouse, he earned an MBA from New York University. In 1965 he was named the youngest partner in the 75-year history of that firm. In 1957, he married his wife of 60 years, Noel Kimball, and settled in Darien, his home for the last 55 years.

After Price Waterhouse, Charlie worked for Laird, Inc. and then formed his own firm, Stanwich Partners, in 1982. Stanwich Partners specialized in leveraged buyouts, acquiring many companies over the next 20 years.

Charlie was an avid golfer and a member at Wee Burn Country Club and the Blind Brook Country Club.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Noël; his sons, Charles Edward Bradley IV and Kimball John Bradley; his daughter’s, Elizabeth Dunlap Bradley, Leslie Bradley Reynolds and Noël Bradley Jackson; and 11 grandchildren.

His brother, Robert Bradley and sister, Barbara Caswell, also survive him. A brother, William Bradley, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 19 at St. Luke’s Church in Darien.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Yale Medical Center.
