Darien’s superintendent of schools, Alan Addley announced in an email Thursday morning that he’s resigning his job with the school district. Addley began his announcement by saying: “After six years as superintendent of schools, I will be retiring from Darien Public Schools, effective June 30, 2025 or on a mutually agreed upon date.” He added, “I am committed to assisting the Board [of Education] in the transition to new leadership and leave with great pride in our collective accomplishments.” The superintendent’s statement suggested that his departure is amicable, saying he valued his experience in the Darien school system: “I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I have had to work with such dedicated staff, board members, public officials, parents and students. […] I know a wee part of me will always be part of the Blue Wave family, and much like the tree in my favorite children’s book, The Giving Tree — the tree was happy!”
