From Greenwich to Westport, Highway Lane Closures Day & Night Starting Monday, Dec 5

Nighttime highway work is already closing lanes on Interstate 95 at various spots between Greenwich and Westport, and for the week starting Monday, Dec. 5 more is on the way for daytime hours, both on I-95 and the Merritt Parkway, state officials have announced. Bottom line: In the area surrounding Darien and well beyond it, if you’re driving after 9 p.m. or before 5 p.m., plan for delays on Interstate 95 through Dec. 16. If you’re driving between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on either I-95 or the Merritt, expect delays.

Merritt Parkway Lane & Ramp Closures in New Canaan & Stamford Start Monday

Lanes will close on the Merritt Parkway in New Canaan in both directions between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday for bridge inspection work, the state Department of Transportation has announced. More work on the Merritt Parkway will close exit and entrance ramps at night in Greenwich and Stamford from Exits 31 to 35, the department announced. That work, affecting ramps for traffic going in both directions on the highway, was expected to start Monday night and continue through Thursday night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. The reason for these closures: repaving the ramps. And finally, more on- and off-ramp repaving on the Merritt is scheduled to take place at Exits 34 and 35 in Stamford on Wednesday, July 27, and the following night, Thursday, July 28, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

On Wednesday, July 20, more bridge inspection work will close lanes further east on the Merritt Parkway, between exits 41 and 40A in Westport and Norwalk, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the department.
