‘Vote and Vax’ — Town’s Last Flu Clinic Is Today, Tuesday Until 7 PM in Town Hall

Darien Health Department issued an announcement Tuesday reminding the public that its last flu clinic is today in Town hall, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Room 119. The announcement also said:
“The vaccine is available at no cost for all part-time/full-time Town employees, library, Post 53 and volunteer firefighters. “For the public, the cost of flu vaccine is $30, payable by check or cash or we accept ConnectiCare and Medicare Part B ONLY.  Vaccine is preservative free & available to those over 3 years old. “If you are unable to attend the flu clinic, you can make an appointment with our Public Health Nurse by utilizing the Health Department on-line scheduler.  “Be Safe, Vaccinate!”

Just in time for flu season, there are various places you can go in and near town to get your flu shots without getting an appointment with your doctor. In addition to the scheduled Darien Health Department clinics mentioned here, you can schedule a flu shot at Walgreens, 148 Heights Road, here; or call CVS in Darien at 203-655-6335 to get your flu shot there. Darien Health Department Flu Shot Program Now Restarted; Next Date is Thursday, Oct 24

Darien Health Department again has supplies of influenza vaccine available and has restarted its flu shots program, with one new date replacing a date that had been cancelled for lack of the vaccine. An Oct. 15 date for flu shots in Town Hall was cancelled because the department didn’t have supplies. A new date, Thursday, Oct. 24 has now been added for anyone to come get flu shots in Room 119 in Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Darien Library, the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County flu clinic is first-come, first-served. Open to anyone age 4+. Anyone under age 18, must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Free Flu Shots for the Uninsured Offered by Americares in Stamford and Norwalk

Americares Free Clinics and Walgreens are offering free flu shots to qualifying patients in October to help keep uninsured adults healthy this flu season. — an announcement from Americares Free Clinics

Now in its fifth year, the collaboration annually vaccinates nearly 1,000 Fairfield County residents who cannot afford a flu shot. “By providing free flu shots to qualifying patients, we can help prevent the spread of influenza in vulnerable communities,” said Terri McCartney, Americares Free Clinics director of volunteer services and community outreach. “Together with Walgreens, we are helping more Connecticut residents stay healthy this flu season.”

The flu shots will be available to eligible residents age 18 and over during walk-in clinics scheduled throughout October at the Americares Free Clinics in Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford. Immunizations will be administered by Walgreens pharmacists, and offered on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.
