McNally: Stevenson’s Tenacity, Empathy and Core Values Will Speak for Us in Congress

To the editor:Darien’s own Jayme Stevenson, a candidate for the 4th Congressional District in the election on Tuesday, November 8, knows the issues that concern our residents.  She will be a voice in Congress that speaks for us. Jayme has done it for us in her 10-year role as first selectman of Darien and working across aisles in her leadership role with the Connecticut Council of Municipalities.  As chairman of the Western Council of Governments, Jayme showed she can work with small towns and big cities on regional issues. Jayme’s experience, tenacity, empathy, and core values make her a strong proponent of Darien and Fairfield County.  She loves our town, our country, and our way of life, and she respects our individualism.Jayme is our best choice for U.S. Congress.Sincerely,Monica McNally

U.S. Rep. Jim Himes to Announce Re-election Bid on Saturday

U.S. Rep. Jim Himes will announce his re-election campaign with supporters at a 3 p.m., Saturday press conference at Old Town Hall in Fairfield, the Democratic congressman’s campaign announced Friday morning. According to the announcement, the event will be attended by state Rep. Cristin Vahey, Bridgeport City Council President Aidee Nieves, state Rep. Jennifer Leeper and Tim Gavin, a candidate for the 28th state senate district. James Andrew Himes, a Greenwich resident, was first elected 14 years ago, in 2008, to represent the Fourth Congressional District in Congress. He is now in his seventh term. In the House of Representatives, Himes chairs the Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth and serves on the Financial Services Committee and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

I’m Running…

After seven terms serving as state representative for Norwalk and Darien, I’m deeply enthused to be shifting my energy and focus to a state-wide race for Secretary of the State. Serving as a state representative for Norwalk and Darien over the last thirteen years has been an extraordinary experience. To have been able to participate in our legislative process and engage in a multitude of key issues has been deeply rewarding. I’m proud of my legislative accomplishments and grateful for the trust placed in me by my constituents year after year.
