Anthony Samuel Albero (Tony), 98, died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 15, surrounded by family at his home in Darien. Born on Oct. 12, 1926, he was the son of Aniello and Filomena Albero. He graduated from Stamford High School and soon after began working at Yale and Towne.
Judith Cole Harrison, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 1, 2025, in Darien. She was 85. Born May 15, 1940, in Berwick, Pennsylvania, to Harry and Betty Cole, she was the middle of five children and is survived by her brothers, Mike and David Cole, along with many nieces and nephews. Judy is also survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Matthew Harrison, her daughters Cecily Urenay (Gokay) and Page Gostling (Peter), and four adoring grandsons: Berker, Arman, Win, and Chips. She will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence and elegance.
Longtime Darien resident Agnes Smith Budd passed away peacefully on Aug. 16, 2025. She was 92. Agnes was born on April 12, 1933, in Norwalk to Agnes Katherine and Herbert Edward Smith. She attended Roger Ludlowe High School and the Northfield School for Girls before graduating with a B.A. from Hood College in 1955.
Janet McMahon Mustion, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on Aug. 19 in Darien. May she rest in peace. Janet was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, John Morris Mustion, in 2016. Janet is survived by her four children: Loren, Sheryl, John Jr. and Glenn.
Francis Michael Lacerenza Jr. of Stratford, beloved son of the late Frank Michael Lacerenza and Theresa Maslowski Lacerenza, entered into eternal rest with our Lord on Sept. 9. Born June 20, 1961, the fourth of seven children, Frankie carved his own path at an early age. After graduating from Darien High School, Frank served as an apprentice at his father’s business, Frankie‘s TV, in Stamford. He proved to be a quick study and went on to excel in all things electro-mechanical in nature, ultimately defining his career path by specializing in large and small engine modification, restoration and repair.
Harriette “Happy” Clarke Thorne, longtime resident of Darien, passed on Sept. 6, 2025 in Swampscott, Massachusetts, due to the side effects of Living, Laughing and Loving for over a century. Born April 13, 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the first of two daughters of Frank Clarke and Georgia Crane Clarke. Her father was with Pittsburgh Plate Glass company and the family lived in Atlanta; Louisville, Kentucky; Webster Groves, Missouri; Ben Avon, Pennsylvania and Greenwich. After graduating from Avonworth High School in Ben Avon, she attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, for two years, then transferred to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she was graduated with a B.A. in English in 1947.
Dr. Penelope Bowers, affectionately known as “Penny,” passed away peacefully at her home in Darien on Sept. 1. Born in 1940 in Manchester, United Kingdom, Penny spent her formative years there, attending Withington Girls’ School and later Manchester University in England. Medicine ran deep in Penny’s roots — both her parents were physicians, and their dedication to the field inspired her to pursue her own medical degree at the university, a decision that shaped her life and career. In 1966, Penny moved to the United States and began an accomplished 30-year career in the pharmaceutical industry.
Doug Campbell III, age 72, passed away on Tuesday Sept. 2, 2025 at his home in Stamford with his wife and kids at his side, after a courageous four-year battle with ALS. He went peacefully thanks to an abundance of love and support from family and friends and because he was able to watch the University of Michigan football team win their first game of the season a few days prior. Doug was born on March 6, 1953, at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Raised in nearby Grosse Pointe Farms, he was the son of the late Douglas Campbell Jr. and the late Elizabeth MacColl Campbell.
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sheila A. (Lunny) Duffy, of Darien, who passed away peacefully on Aug. 28 at 90 years of age. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael A. Duffy for 49 years. Shortly after their marriage in 1957 the couple moved to Darien, where they devoted their lives to lovingly raising their three children, Deborah, Michael and William. Sheila was born on Feb.
Frank Badart Kemp, 81, of Darien passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 30 2025, due to heart failure. Born on Sept. 30, 1943, to Blanche and Lemuel Kemp, Frank was raised at their home in Catonsville Maryland. He graduated from McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland in 1961.
Pearl Kaminsky passed peacefully on Aug. 17. She was born in Stamford Connecticut, the daughter of Paul and Katherine Walczuk. She was a longtime resident of Darien, moving to Norwalk after retirement. She enjoyed her work as a buyer and salesperson at Ethel Allen, Nora Zandre and Elsebe’s, assisting her clients in finding the perfect outfits to fit their personality and lifestyle.
Arthur Foster Draper Jr., known to all as “Port,” passed away peacefully on Aug. 5, at Bridges Memory Care in Norwalk, where he had lived for the past three years. He was 84. Born on Oct. 2, 1941, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, to Sarah Hayward and Arthur Foster Draper, Port grew up in Noroton Bay, Darien.
Nancy White Burden Tapley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Aug. 24, 2025, in Darien, Connecticut, at the age of 93. Born in Springfield, Ohio, on April 22, 1932, Nancy was the only child of Clarence and Hazello Burden. She grew up in Larchmont, New York, and spent summers with her cousins at her beloved Gram White’s cottage on Lake Erie. She graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1950 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics from the University of Vermont in 1954, where she was a drum majorette and member of Pi Beta Phi.
Richard (Dick) James Montgomery, a resident of Darien, Connecticut for 52 years, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025. He was 96. Dick, the second son of the late William and Frances Montgomery, was born on April 5, 1929, in the city of Palembang on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, while his father was stationed there. Dick spent the first 11 years of his childhood in Sumatra, sailing back to the U.S. when the Japanese began expanding into Pacific territories.
Herbert “Scott” Fritts passed away peacefully on Aug. 20, 2025, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was 70. Scott lived his life filled with love for his family and friends and will be remembered as a selfless, thoughtful, and truly good man. The best they come.
