Nathaniel (Nate) Wilson, age 45, of Darien, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016. Born on May 7, 1971, in Santa Rosa, Calif., he was the son of Cheryl San Fillipo and the late Larry Wilson. Nathaniel graduated from Yosemite High School in 1989 and attended Menlo College. Nathaniel’s professional career started in Los Angeles, California at 20th Century Fox. He held several positions in advertising sales in New York City during his career.

Sue Ann Mackay Morris died peacefully on September 14, 2016 at the Maplewood Senior Living Community in Darien, ending her 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on April 28, 1938 in Fort Fairfield, Maine to John and Christine Mackay, her family moved to Simsbury when she was 11 years old. Sue graduated Simsbury High School in 1956 as Class Treasurer balancing her time between Glee Club and earning varsity letters in field hockey, basketball and cheerleading. Sue was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, having traced her lineage back to Plymouth Colony governor, William Bradford. She attended Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston and the Hartford College for Women.

Robert Perske Acclaimed disability advocate, author Robert Perske, author and internationally acclaimed advocate for people with developmental disabilities, died on Sunday, Aug. 14, at his home in Darien. He was 88. A recipient of many awards, including The Arc s Lifetime Justice Advocacy Award and the only non-lawyer to ever receive the American Bar Association s Paul Hearne Award for Services to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, Bob devoted most of his life to serving as the voice for those who have no voice, especially those he believed were wrongly convicted of crimes. He began his career as an ordained Methodist minister, serving as chaplain at Kansas Neurological Institute, a state institution for boys and girls with intellectual disabilities.

Harry Montford Buckingham, age 93, of Mystic, formerly of Old Saybrook, Stratford, and Darien, passed away on Sept. 12, 2016 at Mystic. Harry was born Jan. 9, 1923 in Oakland, Calif., the son of the late Alfred Oliver Buckingham, Sr. and Doris Rogers Buckingham. Harry was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Maralyn Cron Buckingham and two sons, William Rogers Buckingham II and John Kenneth Buckingham.

Beatrice J. (“Bippie”) Grubbs died peacefully at her home in Vero Beach on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016. She was 94. Born on May 19, 1922 in Enid, Okla., Bippie graduated from Enid High School in 1940 and Swarthmore College in 1944 with a degree in English and Economics. Following graduation, she moved to New York City where she worked as a publicist for the American Rose Grower’s Association.

John Eric Rockingham, 95, a former Darien resident, died from cancer on Sept. 2 in Hamilton, Ontario. Born March 5, 1921 in Hull, England died September 2, 2016 at the age of 95, of cancer, in Hamilton Ontario. Eric will be deeply missed by his wife, Edith Joan; his sons, Chris, Peter and Tony; his daughters-in-law, Marg, Anne and Pam; his grandchildren, Kate, Andrew, Jennifer, Julianne, Jamie; his great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Gregory, and his many friends. Eric will be remembered for many parts of his extraordinary life.
