Pauline “Polly” Speights Tuck died peacefully on Jan. 28. She was 91. A Richmond, Virginia native, Polly was married for 60 years to her high school sweetheart, Franklin D. Tuck, who passed away in 2013. She raised her family in Richmond, Berwyn, Pennsylvania and her beloved Noroton Bay in Darien.

Elizabeth B. “Beeb” Morris, of Lovettsville, Virginia passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023 at the Adler Center Hospice in Aldie, Virginia. She was 84. Born in Philadelphia in October, 1938, Beeb spent her childhood in Easton, Pennsylvania, and later in Darien. She earned a degree in archeology from Bryn Mawr College, graduating in 1960.

Nancy “Muffin” (Hergert) Hurd, a loving mother, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at Compass on the Bay Memory Care in South Boston. She was 74. Nancy lived a life complicated by her ongoing struggle with bipolar disorder and, in the last 10 years, dementia. When feeling well, she was the kindest human alive, who loved to help people.

Patrick “Pat” Michael Linskey passed away on January 21, 2023, at the age of 86. He was the quintessential Irishman, born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward and Margaret Hughes Linskey. He attended Niles Township High School in Skokie, Illinois, and later graduated from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois. Pat thrived in the golden age of advertising and print media as sales manager for McCall’s Magazine, advertising director for American Home Magazine, president & publisher of Family Weekly Magazine, and publisher of USA Weekend newspaper magazine (CBS Publishing).

Matt was born in New Zealand into a family of determined and independent individuals, including his mother, Dr. Zoe Petronella During, a ground-breaking physician, and his father, Peter Cornelius During, one of New Zealand’s leading soil scientists. Throughout his life, Matt attracted an exceptional range of colleagues, collaborators, and friends around the world.

Nancy, a loving wife, and mother of three, was an avid reader who believed in happily ever after and truly lived a life full of love and beauty.

Lili Dorothy Ransco was born to William Ransco Sr. and Viola Szulist Ransco on March 3, 1928. She went to high school at East Rochester and graduated in 1945.

Charles Albert Saverine, a proud son of Darien, passed away on Jan. 22 due to a previously undetected medical condition – old age. He was 94 and had continued to work as a designer and draftsman of house plans up until Christmas, when he planned to “take a short break.”

Charles was universally respected and admired in his beloved hometown for his generous heart, tireless work ethic, and helpful nature. He was a learned and practical expert in all aspects of the building trade where he began work as a waterboy at age 8 and later learned carpentry. He advanced from Journeyman to Master Carpenter to Home Builder to Home Designer/Master Draftsman to Chief Building Official for the Town of Darien – the final position being his greatest source of pride.

Julie was a born leader, a natural negotiator, a fierce partner with any racquet, a gifted seamstress and a very trusted friend. She had no limits to what she could accomplish and she had a natural ability to do it all with compassion, style and that oh so beautiful smile.
