The Darien League of Women Voters compiled this 2020 Voters’ Guide by questioning candidates for local, state and federal offices and compiling their answers. The election takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Responses were limited to a specific word count and are published exactly as submitted by the candidates, the League said. The order of offices on the Voters’ Guide is the same as on the ballot.
The Darien Library and the Leagues of Women Voters of Darien and New Canaan will present “Voting During Covid 19,” an online discussion featuring Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, on Thursday, Sept. 10. Americans have a superpower: voting. Democracy’s most constructive mechanism for self-improvement, voting is every citizen’s right, privilege, and civic duty. So how can we make sure we vote safely during COVID-19?

Instructions for completing the absentee ballot, provided by the state League of Women Voters are listed below. If you have applied for an absentee ballot for the Aug. 11 primary and have not received it, call the Town Clerk at 203 656 7307 or go online to download an application at https://portal.ct.gov/SOTS/Election-Services/Voter-Information/Absentee-Voting and follow the instructions on the application. All absentee ballots must be received by the Town Clerk’s office by Close of Election in order to be counted. Please note that only one completed ballot may be placed in each envelope.
