Most of the lower part of the lower parking lot at the Mather Community Center and Town Hall complex will be closed for the summer, starting this Wednesday, June 26 as the town dredges Stony Brook Pond, town officials announced Friday morning. The project is expected to be done “on or before” Sept. 24. A map accompanying the announcement of the project shows that parking nearest to Mather Community Center (where Darien Senior Center is located) will still be open, as will the side of the parking lot nearest to Renshaw Road, but about two thirds of the parking lot aisle closest to the brook will be blocked off. The announcement doesn’t say what part of town government was releasing it, but it was released by the First Selectman’s Office, and the project is associated with the town Department of Public Works.
