This award is given to a chamber member each year that is supportive of the chamber’s mission in an exemplary way. The Dock Shop has year after year been a generous and devoted supporter of the Darien Chamber. They have supported all that the Chamber does whether participating in Sidewalk Sales to make the three day event special for shoppers or volunteering at the annual Wine Tasting and Auction Benefit and other chamber events, advertising annually in the DCC Local Directory, or participating in the DCC Business Panel Discussion event. Their generosity is boundless and makes a difference with helping the Darien Chamber fulfill its mission of promoting the business community and working to improve the quality of life in Darien.

Linda McMahon, the 25th administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, is coming to Darien for breakfast on Friday, Oct. 20, and she’ll be speaking, too. But you have to register and buy tickets by 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 16. The breakfast event is hosted by the Darien Chamber of Commerce and First Selectman Jayme Stevenson at the Country Club of Darien, 500 Mansfield Ave., along with the chambers of commerce of Norwalk and Wesport-Weston as well as the Business Council of Fairfield County.

The awards promotes an ongoing community initiative to act more environmentally friendly, according to this pledge:
I pledge to the community to make ‘Going for Green’ part of my way of doing business and making lifestyle choices in Darien. As I make decisions for my business, or my life, I will consider green options to help make Darien and the Earth, a safe and hospitable home for present and future generations. This year “Going For Green,” sponsored by Darien Bank & Trust, has an awards reception from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., Thursday, hosted by the Darien Nature Center at 120 Brookside Road. Culinary delights will be artfully provide by SoNo Baking Company.
Darien “Indoor Sidewalk Sales” take place at participating stores in town from this Thursday through Saturday, July 19 to 21. “Looking for that special find? Visit your favorite Darien shops during Indoor Sidewalk Sales!!” the Darien Chamber of Commerce says on its website. “Darien is especially lucky to have so many locally owned businesses who are generous to all!
