Three Darien businesses were burglarized over the past two weeks, with glass doors smashed to get inside and cash registers stolen in the most recent break-ins, both at gas stations, police said. At 6:19 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, police were called to the Shell gas station at 805 Post Road, at the corner of Sedgwick Avenue and the Post Road. An employee had found the door broken when he arrived at 6:15 a.m.

The business’s security camera showed a male walking around the building at about 4:30 a.m. before shattering the glass with a hammer, entering and taking the cash register, which held a small amount of cash. Police detectives went to the store to examine the scene for evidence.
