Acting on an anonymous tip, Darien officers went to Chez Ernie’s bar on Friday, Jan. 5 and identified 36 people under the age of 21 at the establishment, a police captain said. At Thursday’s Police Commission meeting, Capt. Jeremiah Marron Jr. gave a brief summary of the case as one of a number of actions taken by police. Marron mentioned no charges being filed against any of the underage bar patrons or anyone working for the business. He said the matter was under investigation by both the department’s detective division and the state Liquor Control Division of the state Department of Consumer Protection.
