A 46-year-0ld man speeding at 45 mph in a 30 mph zone on Mansfield Avenue was stopped near Royle School at 1:48 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, where a police officer smelled marijuana from his car, police said.
Police gave this further account (accusations not proven in court):
When asked, the man said he did have a small amount of marijuana in his car, a red 1990 Honda Accord. The officer found it, along with a “one-hitter” — a small pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana, and a bowl also used for smoking the illegal substance.
The man, a resident of the Riverside section of Greenwich, was issued an infraction ticket charging him with possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana. The police report did not indicate whether or not the man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
