A 2019 Mercedes SL450 Roadster was stolen overnight, Monday to Tuesday, April 6 to 7 from a driveway on Norman Lane, then found in Bridgeport using a Mercedes tracking system.
Police described what happened in this and two other incidents in which another vehicle was stolen and two more reported entered last week:
Norman Lane
The owner said his vehicle was locked and the keys were inside the home, but police noted there were no signs of forced entry (like window glass on the ground) where the car had been parked.
At some point later, Mercedes’ Benz was contacted and determined with the company’s tracking system that the car was on Dande Street in Bridgeport. Police in that city confirmed it was there, and Darien police detectives went to it to examine it for evidence.
The other two incidents occurred on Friday, April 10 on the other side of town.
4 Devonshire Dr.
Sometime overnight from Thursday to Friday, a 2019 Audi Q5 was stolen from the driveway at 4 Devonshire Dr. A key had been left inside the car.
A second vehicle in the driveway also was entered, but it was still there in the morning, and nothing seemed to be missing from it. Police were told of the incident at 2:39 p.m.
32 Miles Road
Less than a quarter mile away from the Devonshire Road theft, a 2014 Toyota Rav4 parked at 32 Miles Road was entered at around 12:47 a.m., on Friday, April 10, according to a surveillance camera that showed a male suspect walking up to it at that time.
The unlocked vehicle was found the next morning with the driver’s door slightly ajar. Nothing appeared to be missing. Police were told of the incident at 9:56 a.m.
