Police Investigate Report of ‘Inappropriate Contact’ at Darien High School Between Adult and Child

Darien police are investigating a report received at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday about alleged inappropriate contact between a man and a girl at Darien High School.

Police said they are in the early stages of the investigation and won’t release more details about the allegation. A police spokesman said in a news release that the accused man doesn’t work for the school district or the town.

“The suspect will no longer be at any Darien public schools, so there is no ongoing risk to any children in our educational facilities.”

Not mentioned in the 11:41 a.m., Friday news release: Darien summer school classes are being held at the high school; construction is also ongoing at the high school in the area of the track and cafeteria. Summer, when school is out (other than summer school) is when various projects get done to the building, inside and out, and to the grounds.

“Given the sensitive nature of these types of investigations and the involvement of a juvenile, no further information will be released at this time,” the news release said.

On July 11th at 1430 hrs [2:30 p.m.], the Darien Police responded to Darien High School for the report of inappropriate contact between an adult male and a juvenile female.

At this time, the investigation is in its initial stages so we are unable to release information in regards to the specifics of what occurred.

We can confirm that the suspect in this case in neither a Darien Board of Education nor a Town of Darien employee. The suspect will no longer be at any Darien Public Schools, so there is no ongoing risk to any children in our educational facilities.

Given the sensitive nature of these types of investigations and the involvement of a juvenile, no further information will be released at this time.
