A 54-year-old Darien woman is being held without bond after she was arrested Feb. 16, when a juvenile in her household told police the woman threatened the juvenile with a knife and the two got into a minor physical confrontation.

Darien police described the incident with this account (which includes accusations not proven in court and which doesn’t include any identifying information about the juvenile — something police are forbidden to give out under a new state law):

The woman told police she and the juvenile were arguing about the juvenile not studying, and the argument turned physical. The woman said she took the juvenile’s phone by force. The two pushed each other back and forth after the juvenile said he or she intended to call police. Eventually the juvenile pushed the woman to the floor and took her phone.

The juvenile later told police that the arguing had gone on from 1 p.m. to about 6 p.m. and the woman had threatened the juvenile with a knife. The juvenile said that at one point the woman said she was going to grab a knife if the juvenile walked out of the bedroom again, and at one point the woman was holding a knife, not in a raised hand but down against the woman’s body as the woman stood in a hallway.

The woman said that at one point she was holding a knife because she was cutting cheese in the kitchen, but no threats were made.

The juvenile, intending to call police, tussled with the woman in the kitchen, at one point knocking her or pushing her to the floor, and grabbed her phone, then called police at about 6:30 p.m. The woman chased the juvenile around the kitchen at that point and at that point said in a threatening manner that she would use her knife.

The woman was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, threatening and interfering with an emergency call — all misdemeanors. Police held her on a $2,500 bond. By the next day, the woman had not made bond and appeared in state Superior Court in Stamford.

The woman has had another court appearance in Stamford since then and is being held without bond, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website. Her next scheduled appearance in court is on March 29. The juvenile made arrangements to live elsewhere.

  1. Seriously, the mom is charged and goes to jail?!? That kids needs an azz whipping. This country is f**ked.
These kids have no respect, because NO ONE has respect. The government has taken a million small step to undermine the family and respect. The government in this case arrested the mom. The government made this mess. And continues to make it worse.
