The deadline for reserving tables at Darien Library’s Oct. 22 Novel Tea fundraiser on Oct. 22 is Friday, Aug. 29, the library announced. Tickets for individual seats will go on sale starting Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Tickets for individual seats at the event will go on sale starting Wednesday, Sept. 3 — but full tables for 10 guests (priced at $3,000) and half tables for 5 guests ($1,500) are on sale in August. “Perfect for your book group, friend group or colleagues,” the library’s announcement said.
Now in its 10th year, Darien Library’s Novel Tea fundraisers have brought authors to discuss their craft, their personal story, and answer audience questions in a luncheon setting.

All funds raised from the Novel Tea will be dedicated to Darien Library resources, including support for technology, programs and speakers, as well as the purchase of new books.

Liz Moore will be the featured speaker at Darien Library’s Novel Tea fundraiser on Oct, 22.
Moore has won numerous awards, with her titles being selected as celebrity favorites, “Best of” lists, and even a “Good Morning America” book club selection for Long Bright River in 2020.
Her latest work, The God of the Woods, became an instant New York Times bestseller. As of April 2025, the novel had been on their bestseller list for 38 weeks.
Moore’s short fiction and creative non-fiction have appeared in venues such as Tin House, the New York Times, and Narrative Magazine. She is the winner of the Medici Book Club Prize and Philadelphia’s Athenaeum Literary Award.
After winning a 2014 Rome Prize in Literature, she spent 2014-2015 at the American Academy in Rome completing her third novel.
A limited-series adaption of Long Bright River — co-created, executive produced, and co-written by Moore, and starring Amanda Seyfried — will premiere on Peacock in 2025. Both The Unseen World and The God of the Woods have been optioned by Sony Pictures Television, with Moore in a writing/producing capacity.
Liz Moore lives with her family in Philadelphia and is director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Temple University.
