The Alzheimer’s Association and its many Darien community partners are encouraging all town residents to come out this Saturday, June 22 to join them in raising awareness and funds to end Alzheimer’s.
— an announcement from the Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut and its community partners in Darien
At 10 a.m., there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at Nielsen’s Florist in Darien to kick off the all day long “Paint the Town Purple Event.”
First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and State Senator Terri Wood will be in attendance to offer a few words. Nielsen’s Florist has graciously donated beautiful purple bows for businesses to display on their storefronts in recognition of their support.
Purple Fun
Over 30 Community Partners are participating. There will be a lot of purple fun, from purple drinks offered by The Goose Restaurant to purple displays, purple hair tips and more, and all to raise money and awareness for the disease.
You can recognize participating stores by the Velum Alzhemer’s Association decal in the window and the large purple bow adorned above.
There will be information tables set up in front of the Darien Sport Shop, Stop & Shop, Equinox and Christ Church with volunteers from William Raveis and Bankers Life ready to help residents set up their team, provide information on the Alzheimer’s Association and take donations.

Be Aware
Right now, there are 78,000 people living with Alzheimer’s in Connecticut and 178,000 caregivers. Every 65 seconds someone develops this disease in the U.S. It is “Time to Talk” about memory concerns.
The Alzheimer’s Association is encouraging families to bravely broach the subject about a loved one’s memory loss.
We have education classes in person and on-line that can help you learn the 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s and how to talk to your doctor about your concerns.
About the Alzheimer’s Association

The association’s mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Its vision is a world without Alzheimer’s.
